Bachata with Dr. Warren Chin

  • Fulton Crossing Art Gallery 1200 River Road Fulton, CA, 95439 United States (map)

About the Artist:

My life in dance began as a hip-hop dancer as a teenager. Following my residency, I moved to Sonoma County in 2005 and as I was establishing my practice, I had a lot of free time and thought I would try partner dancing.  I began with swing and was taking lessons at Ellington Hall in Santa Rosa for a period.  During that time, I saw a flyer for salsa lessons and thought I would try my hand at it.  After my first class, I felt that I had found my dance calling and decided to focus entirely on salsa.  I was performing in salsa within 6 months.  Later, I expanded into Bachata dancing, which became popular about 15 years ago. Latin dance has been my passion for nearly 20 years, and it is my great pleasure to share it with others as a source of fun, community and exercise.

-Dr. Warren Chin

About the Workshop:

We will be learning the basics of Bachata, a form of dance originating from the Dominican Republic. It is relatively simple to pick up the basics quickly and all we need is a boom box and some space! Of course, snacks will be provided as well (thanks as always to the generous support of SMLMA).
